  12. Difference between version 2.1 and 2.12:
  13. Madhouse has now an installer script which is working with the
  14. new Installer version 43.3. Doc includes now our EMail-Addresses.

  16. Madhouse is a modular screen saver like others. We tried to make the
  17. main program (the 'server') more configurable and to program nice
  18. blankers - here is the result, we hope you like it!

  21. Advantages / Features of Madhouse 2.1
  22.  
  23. - New in v2.0: Supports not only Madhouse-, but also Swaz- and
  24.   Garshne-modules. Ever wanted to use both of them as they were of the
  25.   same format? Was it difficult to decide between modular Screen Savers
  26.   because of their modules?
  27.   Madhouse can run and configure them. A little Import-procedure
  28.   adapts them to Madhouse, out of their original distribution archives.
  29.   This thing is NEW, I came to that idea as I saw how other authors of
  30.   other mod. Screen Savers were looking for sourcecodes of blankers
  31.   and ported them by hand to their own formats.
  32.   So try it out and download the Swaz- and Garshne-archive, too.
  33. > New in v2.1: support of Blitzblanker modules. Swaz import does now
  34.   work with the new Swazblanker 2.40.
  35. > Screenmode selection possible for some of the blankers. (v2.1)
  36. > New blanker `Worldtime' (v2.1)
  37. - New blanker `Snow' (since v1.2)
  38. - New in 2.01: nice blanker list, new blanker "Flow" and a bugfix.
  39. - New blanker `Nautic' (v2.0), AGA only.
  40. - Full modular. It's easy to write new blankers, you can use every
  41.   language.
  42. - Dimmer included, which does not only dimm to grey, but also to a
  43.   color (ever seen your WB shining blue?)
  44. > Dimmer has preview field for color 0 of your workbench (v2.1)
  45. - `Immediate Edges' can be defined on the screen, for immediate dimming/
  46.   blanking if the mouse pointer is on them.
  47. - Needs little memory.
  48. - Some blankers are NOT included in this release, because AMOS made
  49.   troubles with MUI 3.1. If you don't use the new MUI version, take a
  50.   look at the archive MadAMOS.lha in util/blank (where you can find the
  51.   old blankers).
  52. - Some wonderful blankers. All are based on inovative ideas, or an old
  53.   ideas with new functions. The well-known Stars are zooming, rotating
  54.   and shifting through space. The FlyingToasters were not drawn in two
  55.   colors, but in 16 hires-laced and are near to the AfterDark-ones.
  56.   The Soccer blanker shows you a soccer game. Included are also blankers
  57.   which don't waste CPU performance. Please look at all of them yourself!
  58. - can play sound mods while blanking, with the help of DeliTracker or
  59.   medplayer.library
  60. - Intelligent Random function: remembers how often a blanker was shown
  61.   already, and selects one that wasn't shown that often.
  62. - a background program ("Madhouse") and a config editor ("MadhouseConfig-
  63.   Ed"). Madhouse itself has no graphical interface and controls the
  64.   whole system, starts blankers and starts the MadhouseConfigEd. Only
  65.   MadhouseConfigEd uses MUI (© Stefan Stunz). That's why Madhouse needs
  66.   little memory.
  67. - CPU sensitive. If your computer is doing a complex calculation (e.g.
  68.   compiling or raytracing), Madhouse runs no blanker at all or a blanker
  69.   that uses nearly no CPU performance.
  70. - If you want Madhouse to change the blankers while blanking, you can
  71.   set the Duration of every blanker seperately.
  72. - a comprehensive documentation, explaining every detail of Madhouse,
  73.   the ConfigEd and the blankers. The doc includes a description how to
  74.   write an own blanker (this can be done in EVERY programming language!).

  83. Unterschiede zwischen Version 2.1 und Version 2.12:
  84. Madhouse hat jetzt ein Installer-Script, das auch mit dem neuen

  89. Madhouse ist ein modularer Screenblanker. Wir wollten ein Hauptprogramm
  90. mit vielen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten und gute Blanker schreiben, hier
  91. ist das Resultat.

  94. Fähigkeiten / Besonderheiten von und Hinweise zu Madhouse 2.1
  95.  
  96. - Neu in v2.0: nicht nur Madhouse- sondern auch Swaz- und Garshne-Module
  97.   werden unterstützt. Wolltet Ihr schon mal Garshne- und Swaz-Blanker
  98.   zusammen benutzen, als wären sie vom selben Format?
  99.   Madhouse kann sie starten und konfigurieren. Eine kleine Import-Pro-
  100.   zedur adaptiert sie für Madhouse, direkt aus ihren originalen Archiven.
  101.   Diese Funktion ist NEU, ich kam auf die Idee als ich sah, wie andere
  102.   Programmierer von Schirmschonern alle greifbaren Quelltexte in ihr
  103.   Format portierten.

  119. - Benötigt wenig Speicher.
  120. - Einige Blanker sind in diesem Archiv nicht mehr vorhanden, da es Pro-
  121.   bleme mit AMOS und MUI 3.1 gab. Wer nicht das neue MUI 3.1 benutzt,
  122.   kann mal einen Blick auf MadAMOS.lha werfen, dort sind noch die alten
  123.   Blanker vorhanden.
  124. - Einige wunderschöne Blanker, teils alte Ideen mit neuen Features, teils
  125.   völlig innovativ und neu. Die bekannten Stars rotieren, zoomen und
  126.   fliegen Kurven, die fliegenden Toasters sind 16-farbig und kommen denen
  127.   aus AfterDark nahe. Auch ein Fußballspiel zum zusehen ist vorhanden!
  128.   Außerdem sind Blanker dabei, die den Computer kaum beanspruchen.
  129. - Kann Soundmodule beim Blanken abspielen, in Verbindung mit DeliTracker
  130.   oder der medplayer.library.

  139. - CPU sensitiv. Wenn Euer Computer etwas berechnet (z.B. ein Raytracing-
  140.   Bild oder er compiliert gerade), startet Madhouse nur einen Blanker,
  141.   der die CPU kaum benötigt oder zeigt nur einen schwarzen Schirm.
  142. - Wenn die Blanker beim Blanken gewechselt werden sollen, kann die An-
  143.   zeigedauer für jeden Blanker separat eingestellt werden.
  144. - eine ausführliche Anleitung, die jedes Detail erläutert - auch, wie
  145.   man selbst Blanker erstellen kann, dies kann in jeder Programmier-
  146.   sprache geschehen!
  147. - einen madhouse.catalog, damit die Bildschirmtexte ab OS 2.1 auf
  148.   deutsch erscheinen.
